Is National City, CA a nice place to move for a single woman?

I might be moving to National City, CA. Before I do that I wanted to know if it was safe for a single woman or if I should seriously consider somewhere else. For instance, would I be okay pumping gas at night. Will I hear gunshots often? =) Also, if you know anything about Paradise Valley Hospital let me know. Thanks!

National City is NOT one of

National City is NOT one of the nicer or safer communities in San Diego. I would not recomment living there for a single women. Try Eastlake, Pt Loma, or just somewhere north of that area.

Whoa! Seriously? So, National city is not a safe place for women especially for those who are single. I think I have to believe now because of the comments posted. Is this in terms of security? or peace and order? If so, then strict measures must be implemented such as fee that is more than short term loans for every criminal incident. I belief it will taper off the rate, and shun it from accruing.
