How a single woman can keep herself protected in an apartment?

i dont really know how to google this so how would a single woman keep herself safe in an apartment if she is scared and paranoid lol, beside putting in an alarm system which the apartment probably wont let and having a gun? like what could she put up to let her know when there is an intruder or wake her up during the night?

use a condom for full

use a condom for full protection. or just use abstinince

First, she has the right to

First, she has the right to install an alarm system whether the landlord likes it or not. She just has to be sure she can remove it, and repair any mounting holes, when she moves out.

Second, a gun's always a good idea. For defensive use inside an apartment, a smaller gauge shotgun is the best bet.

Type in home security... But

Type in home security...

But every apartment should have a separate alarm... there should be a law on it if u want one, go get one and nobody can say anything...

But if your really paranoid about someone comming in your area, u can buy motions sensors for not too much money...
I have a BT home monitor and it says what room I'm in if I'm in it...

Like if I go in the kitchen, the sensor picks up my body heat and speaks kitchen...
One off payment of around 100 pounds and about 4 sensors for the hall way by the front door kitchen living room...

Easy to fit too.

Honestly my gf was the same

Honestly my gf was the same way when I lived with her for 2 yrs. I had this small baseballbat that I had since I was 7 that I let her store on her side of the bed "just in case".

But besides the fact that we don't know if she could've or would've used it if she ever needed to.. we got a dog. Best. Alarm. Ever. You just have to train it. Perfectly. I advise watching the dog whisperer.. even "its me or the dog". Buy those stupid books at petsmart and READ them. And LEARN from them. That's why we buy books.. right?

After that.. we put a solid curtain rod on all the sliding windows and doors in the aparatment cuz she didn't trust the flimsy aluminum rods the apt came standard with. (Yea she was paranoid too..)

Bolting an extra lock on the door that you'd only use if your home alone works wonders.. management will never know the difference if your the one opening the door..

Nightlights. Just not in you bedroom.. but in the hallway to the bathroom.. kitchen.. yes.. even all over the living room. Thay won't let you see much really but they'll give you that extra comfort...

Candles.

Fans.

Cats..

Yea that's all I can think of off the top of my head after living with my girl for 2 yrs... she's pretty paranoid and I'm pretty lax so it works out I guess...

Just don't get caught up in statistics.. cuz they're always misleading.. statistically speaking.. you're more likely to die in a car crash tomorrow than have your home broken into in the next yr.

Btw.. you can always steal a neighbors adt sign and place it around your place visible to the public... that should help..

My lovely princess phia.. oh how wonderfully paranoid she is...

Btw.. if cost isn't important.. they have security alarms that are like boxes that you put around your door thatre motion dtected that when triggered set off an alarm at like 130Db.. which is super loud.. not sure of they're allowed but if your super paranoid.. you can place it everynight and if it ever goes off it could've just saved you.. worth it I thought..

I realize that this is one the most expensive and high crime cities in the country but I'm self employed so I'm not looking for a penthouse just my own place no matter how small as long as it's in a safe area. I would like the Bronx but it doesnt have to be there.

For instance, would I be okay pumping gas at night. Will I hear gunshots often? =) Also, if you know anything about Paradise Valley Hospital let me know. Thanks!
