How could a single woman raise a baby by herself?

Just recently my sister had a baby and it is taking absolutely everything out of both her and her husband. I mean they have to tend to the baby night and day non-stop, I dont see how on earth a poor woman could go through this alone.

How do single mothers do it? I have to admit, I have a lot of respect for single mothers now. They must really have a lot of strength to raise a child by themselves!

I was a single parent (no

I was a single parent (no child support, nor did I ask for any, then he died), worked full time, and put myself through college. Its not easy, but you have to have help. My mother helped me watch my daughter while I did what I had to do. Thankfully, I have a very supportive family (not financially though). I don't think I slept for more than 3 hours a day, and the first few years were a blurr. If I had to do it all over again, I would have spent more time at home. But, what can you do? You have to make money and improve yourself so that your kid can have a better life. I wouldn't know the difference (of having to share the responsibility). When she was 12 I got married, and its been much easier. Single moms bust their butts for their kids, let me tell you.

After the first couple weeks,

After the first couple weeks, baby gets on a routine. By 6-8 weeks most babies start to sleep a decent stretch at night and have a good routine during the day.

This lets mom sleep at night and get a nap in during the day. Since most single moms go back to work between 6 and 8 weeks, baby sleeps at night and goes to daycare during the day.

A lot of moms do most of the baby work even when they have an out of the house job as well, so really it isn't that different as far as babycare goes... you just have more money to afford life when you are married and have 2 incomes.

my step daughter did that at

my step daughter did that at the age of 17 without the father.
we live multiple states away. the daughter mothe is irresposible nad ureliable.
S got 2 jobs and worked but behind off. she got into a very good job and got her friends to watch the kid in the evenings - she worked in a restaurant and got good tips.
as a single mom she got section 8 housing and daycare at a reduced rate.
she's got a ged and is now plannning to go to college. and is now 22. she missed out on the parties and suchlike. worked weekends and was very tired.
i work fulltime and have a 3 year old myself and am married and thats tiring enough without having any help.
if you have faith you can accomplish anything!

It all becomes routine,

It all becomes routine, second nature. I was a single parent with my first and frankly it was more simple than when I had my second and third with a husband. Some babies are easier than others so this is a hard question to judge.

I have a 4 year old. I did

I have a 4 year old. I did it. I did everything alone, pregnancy, birth and the last 4 years of her life. It was hard for the first 2 years but then I got it down to a science. The key to raising a baby by yourself is STAYING ON TRACK!! I can't stress that enough! The main reason why it was so hard in the beginning for me was I didn't stay focused. You can't go wrong when u devote your everything to your child or children. It's kinda all or nothing, and when it's only your influence in you and your babies life it really makes it easier.

For a single mom, motherhood

For a single mom, motherhood is like the two sides of a coin. You have the bliss of being around your child but is associated with stress because of difficulties in financing the needs since sometimes you have to shoulder the expenses alone. Loans may help you such as payday loans, to cover up the spending. Indeed, being a single mother is probably the hardest aspect of life. Remember that a child needs the love and attention from both parents. If you are a single mother, you alone have to carry the responsibility. Despite all these, a big clap is not enough to honor single moms. It takes one big love and one brave heart for a woman to shoulder this! Bravo to all single moms!

  • I'm a single woman going to NYC I need to know what are the safest neighborhoods where rent isn't extremely crazy. I realize that this is one the most expensive and high crime cities in the country but I'm self employed so I'm not looking for a penthouse just my own place no matter how small as long as it's in a safe area. I would like the Bronx but it doesnt have to be there.

  • I might be moving to National City, CA. Before I do that I wanted to know if it was safe for a single woman or if I should seriously consider somewhere else. For instance, would I be okay pumping gas at night. Will I hear gunshots often? =) Also, if you know anything about Paradise Valley Hospital let me know. Thanks!
